CPR/First Aid Class Being Offered

Fellow sailors and CLSA members:

If a friend or loved one collapsed or had a medical emergency with only you nearby, would you know what to do?  Are your CPR and First Aid skills current? If you had to stop and think about your answer, then we have a training opportunity just for you!

This year we are offering a combined CPR/AED/First Aid course for CLSA members and families. The course is certified through the American Safety and Health Institute, and geared towards community based first aid and CPR.  Those who successfully complete the course will receive a certificate that is valid for 2 years, and is accepted by all groups the same as an American Red Cross or American Heart Association Card.

This course is offered as a ‘blended’ learning course-involving a web-based learning program and a hands-on training session.  Enrollees will receive an email with a web-link to their customized online learning program.  This allows you to work through the lessons at your leisure and take the written tests on your own computer at your own pace.  After completing that course and passing the test, all enrollees participate in a 2-hour hands-on training session where we will review key points and practice the skills required in CPR, AED and First Aid.

The cost for this training and certification is only $32. (If you check into courses from other providers, you will quickly find that those are much more expensive).  You need to pay this fee via a credit card when you register for the class.

For those who enroll, we will issue the online access in early April, and hold the classroom portion on Sunday, April 30.  The sessions on April 30 are offered from 10am-12pm and 5pm-7pm, each is limited to 10 participants.

If you are interested in this training, sign up directly on the CLSA web site by going to the event on the Event Calendar. Be sure to login first. Select your preference of class time on April 30. You need to pay the $32 fee via a credit card through the web site when you register for the class. Your completed registration allows us to grant you web access to the curriculum.

Seats are limited (no more than 20 total for this course), so consider signing up sooner than later!
