Not all the news is bad . . .

Even though organized sailing is not yet open for this year, individual activities to get the club ready for a new year have continued to take place.  Take a look at some of the accomplishments so far: (all done before the stay-at-home order)

  1. The lake is full!  Actually, we have already experienced our first flood of the season. The good news is that due to the efforts of our harbormaster and his band of merry elves, we survived the flood! Not a single dock was lost. A few are out of position but easily correctible.
  2. All the erosion holes behind the concrete seawall have been filled. It is safe to walk along the shoreline again.
  3. Significant progress has been made on dock repairs, although more work is yet to come.
  4. The pink lady has been launched and is resting in her regular slip.
  5. The committee boat has been re-powered, and is idling in the parking lot ready for the sailing season.
  6. The water system in the club has been replaced, all the lines sanitized and flushed, and there is plenty of pressure to accommodate showers, post-race toileting, and full pressure kitchen faucets.
  7. The water is on in the clubhouse (thank you Chris Benner!). The shelterhouse water is still off and we may have to put some new heating coils in the water heater.
  8. The paddle dock has had major work completed over the winter and is waiting for warmer temperatures to be completed.
  9. The dock numbering system is being refreshed so that we can easily identify dock numbers and assigned member names.
There is more to come . . . as soon as we get rid of the threat from COVID-19!
