Junior Program Overview

The CLSA junior program teaches young sailors life-long on-the-water skills, self-sufficiency and independence all while having a BLAST!  Sailing is unique because it is a sport the entire family can enjoy together.

The youth sailing program is geared to sailors between ages 9 to 18.  All skill levels are welcome.  The program makes a limited number of boats and equipment available to provide an entry path for new sailors.

An overnight Sail Camp is a summer highlight for young sailors and their families.  The junior sailing program is rounded out with Sunday sailing, skills clinics, the Bring-a-Friend Regatta and holiday parties.   Traveling to area clubs for competitions also increases skills and helps foster life-long friendships.

Junior Sailing Continues Throughout The Summer

The Opti Sailors enjoy their own race course from Memorial Day weekend through the Labor Day weekend each year.   Teens and experienced sailors are eligible to sail Lasers and 420’s throughout the April – October race season.

Holiday parties and race series held on Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day weekends make fun-filled memories for the entire family.

As Sunday sailing is a fundamental part of the junior program, parents of junior sailors are required to sign up for at least one day of race committee per family. This is a terrific opportunity to see your child in action and help build sailor skills and confidence.  Additionally, parents are encouraged to sail their own boats or crew on someone else’s boat while their children enjoy Sunday afternoon sunshine.  No one need sit shoreside!

The popular Bring-a-Friend Regatta is an annual summer event where sailors are encouraged to bring a non-member friend to the club for the weekend. Sailors enjoy on the water frivolity and fun and games on shore.
